The process begins with a sheet of glass. This could be float glass (window glass) or specialised fusing glass.
The sheets are then cleaned and cut to the required shapes
This when all the details are added such as enamels, glass powders and frit (ground glass) wires and decals
The glass is then assembled in the glass kiln and fused between 745’c – 845’c. This process takes between 7 – 12 hours plus a long time to cool
Once cooled the glass pieces are cleaned again and any sharp edges and tags are filed off. Sometimes complex pieces need steps 3 and 4 repeating two or three times
The glass is then mounted on their individual bases and your show details are placed in their boxes or tins
Once it’s all boxed it’s delivered to your show
Now all that is left is for somebody to do something fabulous and win one of these beauties
